Sanding our way through Labor Day

"Let's sand the porch"

Those were the last words I expected to hear out of Dan's mouth on this Labor Day weekend.

With College Football kicking off, multiple yummy smells coming from the kitchen {I spent the week before Labor Day taking some much needed time off from work due to excess PTO in my vacation bank so cooked, cooked, baked, and cooked some more} and beautiful weather outside, I was a little shocked to hear our plan for the weekend.

What actually happened was that we had an opportunity to split the cost of a floor sander with a fellow renovator and due to the holiday weekend, got the sander for the price of 1 day but got to have it Sat-Tues so we jumped on board with that deal quickly. We got the sander for Sunday and Monday so we actually did spend a glorious Saturday watching college football kick off on TV. Dan was actually so excited that he spent Friday night on the couch just so he wouldnt miss a single minute of College Gameday {what actually happened was that he fell asleep by accident and I was sleeping so soundly back in our bedroom that I never realized he never made it to bed, so in actuality he did kick off college football weekend without missing a single second}

Let me take a minute to say that although both our alma maters scared the pants off us in the first half of their games, both CAROLINA & CLEMSON ended up winning their season openers. Whew! I am going to go ahead and come out of the closet to say that I actually have become a Carolina fan and whole heartedly support them {sometimes more vocally then Dan} until the one game of the season when Dan and I sit on opposite sides of the stadium and I proudly wear my orange and purple {as much as I can get away with}! Of course I also still support Clemson in all their games as well just as much as I have my whole life. :)

Now back to our Labor Day Weekend project.

We spent ALL day both Sunday {after church, sunday school and lunch with the crew of course} and Monday stripping all of that durn old grey paint away. It took both days, a floor sander, and two hand sanders to get the job done. We were very proud of our hard work and it brought back memories {or nightmares?} of our hours spent stripping the interior house of it's old paint. Needless to say, we are glad that should be the last of the old paint.

Ta Da! All done! Now for the painting to begin...
